The City of Tuscaloosa will host the ninth annual Mayor’s Cup 5K for Pre-K on Saturday, April 25. More info on the race has been released, plus race registration is open.

The race aims to increase awareness and raise funds for the Tuscaloosa Pre-K Initiative. Last year more than 1,400 people registered. Since it began, the race has raised a total of $140,000 to support at-risk preschoolers in Tuscaloosa. Once again, we're thrilled to be a part of this great event as a media sponsor!

The race will start and end at Government Plaza behind City Hall. The route will go through downtown and will cross through the Walk of Champions on the University of Alabama campus.

There will be an after-race event, dubbed Post-K, where certain downtown businesses will provide deals on merchandise, food and drinks to participants who present their race bibs. For more information regarding participating businesses, CLICK HERE.

The Mayor’s Cup is a Grand Prix event registered with the Tuscaloosa Track Club, and awards will be given. Timing chips attached to race bibs will be used to determine race results.

Registrants receive a performance race t-shirt and a potential to win door prizes. There will also be family-friendly activities on site, including the Mascot Cup, a .05K for popular area mascots.

The registration fee is $20 now until March 31 and $25 April 1-25. Participants can register online at www.tuscaloosamayorscup.com, by mailing or bringing registration forms to the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater box office, 2710 Jack Warner Parkway Northeast, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.
