With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Tuscaloosa's Black Warrior Brewing is joining forces with The DCH Foundation to raise funds tonight.

October was named Breast Cancer Awareness Month for the first time in 1985 as a partnership between the American Cancer Society and a pharmaceutical company which made breast cancer fighting drugs. The purpose from the start has been to promote mammography as the most effective weapon in the fight against breast cancer.

It's been exciting to see the month grow from what it was then into what it is now. Each year we see more and more pink everywhere. Whether it's pink clothing on supporters, pink illumination of landmark buildings, pink football helmets and uniform additions in the NFL or just simple pink ribbons pinned to supporters.

Tuscaloosa businesses have long been a part of raising awareness and funding for breast cancer research and tonight that tradition continues. The 'Pints with a Pink Purpose' fundraiser starts at 4pm and will run until 10pm in the taproom of Black Warrior Brewing on University Blvd. $1 from each pint of beer sold will go to Breast Cancer Awareness.Of course donation will be welcomed too.
