The Alabama football team practiced in full pads for roughly two hours on Sunday afternoon outdoors under cloudy skies on the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields. Only two practices remain before the holiday break for the Crimson Tide.

Sunday represented the fifth of seven bowl practices before the holidays and 11 prior total practices prior to the College Football Playoff Semifinal in Arlington, Texas. Alabama and Michigan State will meet in a pairing of conference champions for the 2015 Goodyear Cotton Bowl at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The game is scheduled for a 7:10 p.m. CT kickoff on ESPN with the trio of Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Heather Cox calling the game.

The Spartans currently hold a 12-1 overall record and most recently defeated then-No. 4 Iowa in the Big Ten Championship Game to advance to the College Football Playoff Semifinal. Michigan State won their first eight games of the year before falling at Nebraska, 39-38. The Spartans bounced back with three straight wins to close out the regular season, highlighted by a last-second 17-14 win over Ohio State.

Alabama and Michigan State will meet for only the second time, with the first meeting coming in the 2011 Capital One Bowl. In that matchup, UA ran away with a 49-7 victory over the Spartans, collecting 546 yards of total offense.
