Up-and-coming pop-country artist Parker McKay is exclusively debuting an acoustic performance of her song "Rolling Stone" to readers of The Boot. Click play above to watch.

McKay moved to Nashville in 2014, and she's been working her way up in the music scene ever since. The singer has shared the stage with talented women such as Lucie Silvas, Maren Morris and Natalie Hemby, and her songwriting talents have brought her opportunities to work with writers from Sony, BMG, Warner Chappel and Curb, among others.

But, McKay wants more, and she's doing the work to get it. In her acoustic performance of her song "Rolling Stone," wearing ripped black jeans and strumming her acoustic guitar, McKay's smokey vocals reveal what she wants most in life: "I want to be on the cover of Rolling Stone / Grab this guitar and get out on the road / You can try to save my troubled soul / But the two and four go down to the bone / And my heart was made to beat for rock 'n' roll."

"I want people outside of the music industry to connect with this song," McKay tells The Boot. "The lyrics tell a story of a young woman who gave up a stable life to pursue a life of rock 'n' roll on the road ... But it's about more than that. It's about following the strongest feeling you have at your core with trust."

"Rolling Stone" was inspired by McKay's friends John and TJ Osborne of Brothers Osborne: When McKay heard that they had been nominated at the Grammy Awards, she began thinking about the iconic moments in an artist's life -- including a Rolling Stone cover -- she tells Rolling Stone. McKay has a resolve to have iconic moments of her own -- after all, her heart was made to beat for rock 'n' roll.
