OK, this is a bit weird. On Madison and Shepherd, we do a daily segment called "Strange Alabama". Earlier this week the segment featured a 'strange' place here in Alabama called Gymno-Vita Park in Pell City.

We found the information for our Strange Alabama segment in the book Strange But True Alabama by Lynne L. Hall. According to Hall,

If you are interest in visiting somewhere really unusual, how about a nudist colony? And better yet, what about one that's "family friendly? "Only families and couples are allowed"

In the book, Hall goes on to say there is a wealth of activities: swimming, camping, hiking, ping-pong, table games, and pool. Even a Ballroom for dancing....

I Googled the place and found a website. I won't list it here because is has a photo of a naked woman and man right on the home page. Their site says they are closed from late October through March. I called the number listed on the site and an old lady answered and hung up on me when I asked if this was the nude ranch...

Some other research uncovered that "America's Most Family Friendly Nude Recreation Destination" has been in operation for about 34 years. I guess some folks dig that kind of thing. If nothing else I learned something new about Alabama this week!
