There's little doubt about how much power Alabama head coach Nick Saban yields in Tuscaloosa. With four national championships in seven years, Saban and the Crimson Tide sit atop the college football world.

But how much further does his power reach?

He's already been named the 'Most Powerful Coach in Sports' back in 2008. More recently, Kenyan Drake called him the most powerful man in the country. How much more is left?

Well, Fortune has put the football coach on par with the greatest leaders in the WORLD. In fact, Fortune considers just 10 other people to be better leaders than Saban. In a group of the top CEOs, politicians, religious figures, activists, and judges, the leader of Alabama's football program sits near the top.

Fortune released a list of the 50 greatest world leaders, and here are the 10 ahead of Saban:

  1. Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon
  2. Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany
  3. Aung San Suu Kyi, National League of Democracy Leader
  4. Pope Francis
  5. Tim Cook, CEO of Apple
  6. John Legend, Musician and Activist
  7. Christina Figueres, Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change
  8. Paul Ryan, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives
  9. Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Supreme Court Justice
  10. Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangaldesh

That list of people speaks for itself. As if Saban needed any more advantages on the recruiting trail, now he can add this accolade to his arsenal.

UPDATE: It didn't even take 24 hours for the athletic department to create a graphic highlighting the recognition.
