If you were hoping for some type of flare up from Nick Saban at his latest press conference, you left disappointed on Wednesday.

The head coach met with the media for the first time since Saturday's media day and most people were curious to hear how he'd respond to the comments made by Jalen Hurts, but Saban brushed it aside.

"Every player has a right to express what he feels and what he thinks and I think he has every right to do that with every coach or anybody in the organization that he has relationships with.

"This is probably more important to people outside this organization than it is to people inside. I don't think this has any affect on our team."

Alabama transitioned to full pads on day five of fall camp and Saban said his staff is still working on developing mental toughness, especially with his younger players.

"We're trying to get the young players who are talented to have the kind of effort, toughness, discipline to execute that they need so that they have an opportunity to be able to learn and contribute, which in a lot of cases we can really use."

The team will practice again Thursday and Friday before holding the first scrimmage of the fall. That will take place on Saturday inside of Bryant-Denny Stadium.

"What we're looking for Saturday in the scrimmage will be a lot about who can go out there and have the maturity and focus, mental toughness, mental discipline to be able to stick with good play, bad play, play the next play, keep their poise. And that goes a long way in telling you whether a guy is emotional ready to play."
