The U.S Department of Justice is warning Americans that a nasty computer virus could already be lying dormant in their computer. Once activated, the Russian-born virus drains users accounts of banking information and cash and is described by the FBI as 'extremely sophisticated'. To date, close to $100 million dollars has been stolen.

The good news is the servers controlling the trojan have been shut down but the bad news is Americans have only two weeks to change passwords and scan for the virus before it's activated. The NSA warns 'Gameover Zeus' can even steal your family photos and hold them ransom.

Mac users are okay but PC's running windows should take the necessary precautions to make sure they're protected and check your computer at Get Safe Online.

In the meantime, you should take the normal steps encouraged to protect yourself like avoiding clicking on links in sketch emails and only downloading from trusted sources online.
