In 2015, more than 3,000 runners converged on the Griffin Farms Pumpkin Patch for the inaugural Insane Inflatable 5K presented by McDonald’s.

I was one of those people. I remember the day well because I ran the Tuscaloosa Mayor's Cup 5K that morning at 8 am and then took off with another group of runners for the Insane Inflatable 5K at 11 am.

My first favorite moment was being able to recruit fellow runners and folks who love a challenge to run in the same heat as me. This was a video from the 11 am heat start line and some of the crazy pre-race chatter.

My second favorite moment was running the race and interacting with others on the course. By the time I got 2 miles in, my body had started to show signs of wearing down, as did others, so we had quite a bit of fun expressing the different levels of our exhaustion and deliriousness.

And lastly, obviously, my third favorite thing about running the 2015 Insane Inflatable 5K was finishing! I got a finisher's medal and the chance to finally rest my legs and watch the mud from the course dry on my shoes as I hung out in the midway area!

This race was so much fun for me as a runner because I was able to have fun with friends while running and just soaking up the festive atmosphere without the worry of finishing first. We laughed, complained, struggled at times but we had fun.
