On our way back from Bessemer this past Saturday, my sister-in-law and I were returning home when we saw a large dark plume of smoke rising above the tree line. As we drew closer to the source, we could see embers burning underneath the hood of my neighbor's vehicle.

'That truck is on fire and there are people in that house!' Ashley jumped out and ran around to the back of the house while I still tried to figure out where I was even at. I managed to dial 911 and after speaking with the Tuscaloosa County dispatch, the fire department was on their way.

Here's some footage from their arrival:

After the fire was safely put out, another neighbor pulled the vehicle away from the home. Sadly, the truck's owner received the bad news via phone call while he was on vacation. I don't know much about vehicles or fire, but I found it interesting that a fire can suddenly start despite the vehicle being parked for four days.

Hopefully, my neighbor's insurance agent will make sure he's made whole very soon!
