My wife and I sat quietly and watched as hero after hero paid respects to those fallen from Tuscaloosa County while serving our great country on Memorial Day.

We watched as many rubbed their hands across the Memorial monuments in front of University Mall Tuscaloosa. I remember thinking how wonderful of a job the trees did shading so many while they remembered hard days long ago.

I used to interview these guys but these days I just say "Thank You" over and over. Some like to talk, some don't and I think they've more than earned that right. We watched as a daughter went to get the car for her dad. He was holding on to his cane and you could see his legs getting a bit weak. In that moment, two other service men, younger, and from a different time ran to his side.

This moment, I will never forget and it just spoke to me and my wife so strongly. Someone once said, "a pic is worth a thousand words" but this one is far more valuable to me.

Thank you, Thank you,  Thank you,  Thank you,  Thank you, and may God Bless you.
