These two areas of the house are probably the least sexy of my remodeled rooms but the foyer and hallway make a bigger impact in the overall appearance than I ever anticipated.

When first considering the color, I'd originally planned on something light and airy, much lighter than I ultimately chose, because I was concerned the hall would feel narrow and oppressive.

I can't remember when, where or how my opinion changed, but as more of the house's personality was revealed, I found myself drawn toward darker, more rich colors.

I ultimately chose Chelsea Gray from the Pittsburgh Paint palette.

The two questions I'm most often asked are 'Where do you get all of your ideas?' and  'How did you learn to pull everything together?'

In terms of my style, the answer to both is pretty simple: I really love every single piece regardless of where I found or how much it cost.

Some pieces (a lot!) came from the clearance shelf at TJ MAXX, some cost enough to make me sweat at the idea of Perry asking any questions regarding it's acquisition, and some were literally found on the side of the road like this mirror:

When I asked Perry to hang the mirror up he said, "I hate this mirror! It looks like trash.' I happily informed him that it actually was trash, but now it's my treasure!

I also used items and pictures that hold personal meaning for me like a painting from Jesse and tiny hand prints in the shape of a heart Zachary made at school for Mother's Day.

For months, I poured over websites, magazines and books which helped me grow comfortable with taking risks. I left my sticky notes on all of the pages that inspired me then placed them in various places throughout the house in case someone found themselves in a comfortable chair with a few minutes to relax and was curious to learn more about some of my choices.

The final home of several items remain fluid so I'm constantly moving a few of those around but I always know the instant it 'clicks'. You will too when you're working with pieces you love.

Next up is the guest bath which underwent a MASSIVE renovation that included knocking out more walls and tearing up the concrete slab. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the gallery below!
