I talked about my brother-n-law Jonathan before. I've even shared pictures of our fishing  and cooking adventures. A few days ago Jonathan caught on fire. (he really was on FIRE). I'm about to share what happened and a pic. (WARNING: Graphic Picture)

Last Thursday. Jonathan was wearing a light button up flannel shirt over a t-shirt. He was at his house in the kitchen as supper was cooking on the gas stove. Jonathan leaned back against the stove while talking to his wife and his shirt tail somehow got in the burner. It took him a second or two to realize that his shirt was ON FIRE! The flame moved fast up his back and burned through his t-shirt.

Jonathan couldn't get the shirt off fast enough. He told me on the phone that the  "Stop, Drop and Roll" method of 'putting yourself out' didn't work. In a panic, his wife ran and got a small cooler that was half full of melted ice water and thew it on his back.

Here is the crazy part: Jonathan went to a family doc on Friday. He saw the Nurse Practitioner and was given some pain meds, antibiotics and some cleaning supplies and went HOME. When the doctor came later, he saw pics and read the chart and tried to call Jonathan ALL WEEKEND to tell him to go straight to a burn specialist in Mobile. The doc had an old number so he never reached Johnathan.

Sunday: The pain of the burn became to much for Jonathan to bear over the weekend. He had to go to the ER in Camden, Al. They gave him a shot, some cream and sent him home.

Monday: Jonathan gets up and goes to WORK. It didn't take long for him to realize he wouldn't be able to handle the pain so he left work early and went back to his family doc. They immediately sent him to the specialist. He is there now on strong pain meds while they clean and prep the burn for skin graph surgery on Friday. From what we hear it's 3 degree burns. Say a prayer!
