Billy’s Sports Grill is hosting the ‘Tips for Tuscaloosa’ songwriter’s concert Wednesday night to benefit the The Arc of Tuscaloosa County.

This monthly event features local and Nashville based singer/songwriters in what is known as a “round”. Singing their songs, telling stories and musically accompanying each other.

New to the round this month is Texas songwriter Evan Ogden. Raised on gospel music and Hank Williams, Evan Ogden's musical career began in 2008 when he has given a  guitar. Since then he hasn't taken his hands away. With musical influence ranging from Jason Isbell to Jonathan Tyler, NeedToBreathe to George Jones, and Roy Acuff to Sturgill Simpson; Evan Ogden's sound lands somewhere between Americana, and Texas Country with subtle undertones of Rock N' Roll and hillbilly country.

Other artists featured this month will include Hope Cassity, Megan McMillan, Robert Daniels, JP Miller, Chad Robinson of the Tuscaloosa rock band Steels and a special appearance by songwriter Jim Parker.

If you’re a songwriter and interested in playing tonight, there will be an open mic portion, so you’ll need to arrive by 5:30pm to sign up.

There is a suggested $20 cover at the door, but that is not required by any means. Billy’s will also have half off all wine by the glass tonight.

Show starts at 6pm.
