Monk's Top 5 Favorite Christmas Songs

In the South we normally don't have cool temps or snow to remind us that it's Christmas but the sounds of the season help to bring out that holiday spirit.

When I hear Burl Ives belt out 'Holly Jolly Christmas' or anyone's version of 'White Christmas,' a happiness comes over to combat the usual Christmas shopping or scheduling stresses.

I though I'd share my 5 favorite Christmas classics with you in hope to maybe bring that holly jolly spirit to you this year!

It's corny and uncalled for but I love it! It's one of those songs that just reminds me of how ridiculous some holiday parties can get and also reminds me of how big and hilarious Jeff Foxworthy was when he hit the scene back in the world wide comedy scene in the early 90s!

So much so that Vince Guaraldi Trio's A Charlie Brown Christmas has been voted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and added to the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry list of "culturally, historically, or aesthetically important" sound recordings.

Something about Loretta's sweet Kentucky drawl has always made me feel comfortable and her classic 'Country Christmas' almost perfectly describes my holidays growing up in the country backwoods of Mississippi. I just wish it was longer.

I don't know half of what Jose Feliciano is saying but the driving rhythm and joy of the song makes me smile and my first time hearing it each year signals the start of the Christmas season.
