Monk’s Top 10 Texas Country Songs
This week the Crimson Tide is taking on the Aggies of Texas A&M so I thought I'd give you few Texas Country songs for your tailgate playlist.
What is Texas Country? The description on Wikipedia describes it as,
Texas country music is a rapidly growing sub-genre of American country music. Texas country is known for fusing traditionalist root sounds (similar to neotraditional country) with the outspoken, care-free views of outlaw country. Texas country blends these subgenres by featuring straightforward, truthful lyrics, a "take it or leave it" approach, a "common working man" theme, comical, witty undertones, intense live performances, and loyal fan-bases.
My introduction to Texas country was representing the radio station at a Pat Green show at Jupiter Bar years ago. I then became more interested and researched other that are now favorites like Randy Rogers Band, Josh Abbott and Wade Bowen.
An abbreviated version of this list can be heard on The Tide Tailgate Show on our sister station Tide 99.1 this Saturday morning.
