ALABAMA NEWS: Jimmy Guin, an off-duty Northport police officer was seriously injured this morning in an automobile accident on Hwy. 43. A statement released by the Northport Police department read, “On behalf of the city of Northport and the Northport Police Department, our thoughts and prayers go out to all involved in the crash and their families.” Thanks so much to everyone who called the station this morning with info and updates. As soon as we learn more, we will let you know.

NATIONAL NEWS: Get prepared to add another profile to your already growing list of Social Network systems. On Tuesday Microsoft introduced its social network, Socl. Essentially, it's a search-meets-social networking website that looks more like Pinterest than Facebook, and everyone with a Microsoft or Facebook account can access it. As a user you can share pictures & videos and comment on other members' posts on the site. How connected do we need to be? Remember when you had a book with number written in it and you had to be at home to call them? That’s my kinda connected.

SPORTS: Houston Texans’ wide receiver Andre Johnson is a Christmas angel. At least he is to 12 at risk young people selected by child protective services. He allowed the 12 youngsters to fill their baskets with as much as they can at a Houston area Toys-R-Us! The shopping spree was funded by his organization, the Andre Johnson Charitable Foundation. Each of the kids had 80 seconds (he wears #80 on the football field) to fill up their carts with as many toys as they could. When all toys were scanned, Johnson paid a whopping $19,521 tab.

ENTERTAINMENT: Outspoken rapper Eminem’s teenage daughter recently took to her Twitter account to blast Taylor Swift. Earlier this week she tweeted about the relationship between One Direction member Harry Styles and serial-dater Taylor Swift saying, "If @taylorswift13 is really dating the love of my life @Harry_Styles I will not be happy," and "Dear @taylorswift13, please stop whoring around with every guy you see. We all know you're only doing it so you can make another album." Hallie was not prepared for the backlash she got from Swift fans around the world. The rapper’s daughter has since deleted her Twitter account but not before posting an apology, “Wow. I didn’t mean for people to react to my tweet in the way that they have it was just a bit of fun! Sorry @taylorswift13 for my immaturity.”

MUSIC: Jazz pianist Dave Brubeck, 91, died Wednesday from heart failure, according to his manager. The musician’s heart stopped while he was en route to the hospital for a cardiology appointment. Brubeck would have celebrated his 92nd birthday today.
