While Trace Adkins is bravely facing recovery following a relapse with alcoholism, his fans can keep him in their thoughts and look ahead to brighter things in the future, including the singer's role in an upcoming Hollywood flick. The trailer for 'Mom's Night Out' debuted this week (Jan. 21) and finds Adkins as a big, tough guy with a huge heart.

The singer appears in the film with 'Grey's Anatomy' star Sarah Drew, as well as Patricia Heaton and Sean Astin. Adkins has spoken highly of the movie and his role in it. He plays a tough guy named Bones, who is covered in tattoos and sports a bandana along with lots of Harley Davidson paraphernalia.

But he also shows a whole lot of heart in the flick, helping out a young mother who is in over her head, trying to find her missing child. The singer appears in the trailer quite a few times, and says with much bravado, "We've got a baby to find!" while atop a roaring motorcycle.

“I just like that dichotomy, the contrast between the tough guy and the sappy old drooling teddy bear,” Adkins explains. “It’s really not a stretch.”

'Mom's Night Out' promises laughter and heartwarming moments -- it's described as an "endearing true-to-life family comedy that celebrates the beautiful mess called parenting." The flick opens in theaters on May 9, 2014.
