With an extra week to prepare for LSU, the Alabama coaching staff has been working on a plan for replacing the injured Eddie Jackson in the secondary and it appears Minkah Fitzpatrick is the answer.

The sophomore spent time at safety during the Crimson Tide's bye week and feels like that could be a move he'll be making.

"Last week they worked me at safety a whole lot and a little bit of nickel in regular," Fitzpatrick said. "That's going to be a possible move that we're going to make in the secondary."

Fitzpatrick has been a force in the secondary for Alabama since arriving on campus a year ago, but he will have to make adjustments with a move to safety.

"You gotta make a little bit more calls and you gotta be a little bit more disciplined at that position."

A mid-season position change might be difficult for many players to handle, but Fitzpatrick knows it's for the greater good.

"You always have to do what's best for the team, and that's what coach thinks is best for the team right now. It's just another challenge that I have to accept. I see it as an opportunity to show my versatility as an athlete."
