Director Mel Gibson announced this week that he and 'Braveheart' director Randall Wallace are currently writing the script for the follow up to 'The Passion of the Christ' that will focus on the Resurrection.

On Thursday, Wallace reluctantly confirmed rumors to The Hollywood Reporter that he was currently writing a script for a story about the resurrection. He said news of the project was difficult to keep under wraps.

"I always wanted to tell this story," the Academy Award nominated director said. "The Passion is the beginning and there's a lot more story to tell."

The Passion of the Christ, released in 2004 by Newmarket Films, earned $612 million omaking it the most successful independent film of all time.
