The inaugural Malibu Cup International Waterski Tournament and Exhibition will be held on July 3rd at Lymanland and July 4th on the Black Warrior River.

The Malibu Cup slalom and course are part of the pro-circuit and is one of the top waterski tournaments in the world. The festival will bring competitors from 28 different countries to Tuscaloosa to participate in Pro Men and Women Slalom, ski shows and exhibitions including wake boarding, side-by-side tricks and a jet pack event.

Friday at Lymanland will serve as the event qualifier leading into Saturday’s exhibition and finals. There is a $30,000 prize that will be divided between the top male and female competitors. The festival will be broadcast live on a webcast.

Following the event on July 4th, a large fireworks display will take place at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater. Shuttles will be provided during the weekend to take spectators to other downtown activities.

Event director and competing athlete, April Coble Eller said,

Athletes from 28 countries around the world will be competing during the festivals for cash prizes and elite world ranking points. Fans will have an opportunity to interact, take photos, ask questions and get autographs with the skiers while enjoying festival activities, food and music. They can also see the hottest new gear including all new Malibu boats!

This will be a family-friendly event and free to the public.
