It has been quite a year for newcomers Maddie & Tae, whose debut single 'Girl in a Country Song' undoubtedly helped them snag an invite to the 2014 CMA Awards. The duo recall how far they've come since last year, including where they watched the show and how they're prepping to attend.

Maddie Marlow and Taelyn Elizabeth Dye dish that this time last year, they were busy writing songs.

"Actually the night of the CMAs last year we were in our PJs eating popcorn so we're upgrading from PJs to actual CMA dresses," Dye says enthusiastically. "We're upgrading from the couch to the red carpet."

"Big move here!" Marlow adds.

This year, however, the girls will be waltzing down the red carpet and probably looking pretty fabulous. They're each other's dates to the 2014 CMAs, and although they couldn't remember who designed their dresses (they did promise to remember it by awards show time), they have been practicing their red carpet poses.

"We had like little ten-minute, 'Ok, you can only have one hand on your waist and you're supposed to tuck it backwards and you're supposed to have one leg popped' [lessons]," Marlow explains, adding that chin placement is also pretty important. "You can't be like double chin, but you can't be like, turtleneck."

Maddie & Tae did get a little practice in when they walked their very first red carpet for the ASCAP Awards this week. It was also a big week the ladies, since their debut EP dropped on Tuesday (Nov. 4). The four-track release is available now on iTunes and features their hot anti bro-country single.
