Lineup Announced for 2016 Jimmie Rodgers Music Festival
Country legend Billy Joe Shaver, rockers Blackberry Smoke and Lucinda Williams are just a few of the acts featured at this year's Jimmie Rodgers Music Festival.
At a press conference at Union Station yesterday, organizers announced the lineup which will take place in downtown Meridian, Mississippi on May 6th & 7th.
The first ever Jimmie Rodgers Memorial Festival was held 63 years ago. Now known as the Jimmie Rodgers Music Festival, it's bigger than ever and still continuing to honor the life and legacy of “The Father of Country Music.”
Joining the aforementioned artists at the 2016 festival will be, The Bros. Landreth, James McMurtry, The Lone Bellow, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys, Cedric Burnside, Keller Williams, Elizabeth Cook, and the Jimmie Rodgers Talent Show finalist.
The Meridian Little Theater will also put on a play about the life of Jimmie Rodgers and his contribution to the early days of country music.
