Keith Urban's Ripcord World Tour gained a talented young musician over the weekend -- at least for a few minutes. Urban pulled a fan, Rob Joyce, onstage at New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford, N.H., for a song ... and, man, did he deliver!

On Saturday (July 2), during an acoustic break between songs, Urban looked into the audience and spotted a sign held up by Joyce's girlfriend Lex reading, "It's my boyfriend's birthday!" ... and then a sign held up by Joyce reading, "Can I play your guitar?"

The country star couldn't resist: "I was like, 'Fingers crossed, this is going to be awesome,'" Urban recalls on Facebook, in a "massive shoutout" to the aspiring musician. So, he handed Joyce his vintage Fender guitar, the band raced back onstage, and they launched into "Good Thing."

Urban says it best: "And you got up, and you killed it, Rob. It was awesome. You played your a-- off."

"Good Thing" is from Urban's 2013 record Fuse. His newest studio album, Ripcord, debuted at No. 1, giving him his fifth-ever chart-topping record.

“The 15 months that I spent recording Ripcord was one of the most incredible musical journeys I’ve ever had,” Urban says. “Working with some of the most creative and inspiring musicians to explore and expand my music in the studio was exhilarating. To now see this music connecting with my audience in this way is an extraordinary feeling — it means everything to me.”

Urban's summer tour has been on the road for a month now, with Brett Eldredge and Maren Morris joining as special guests.
