Jason Derulo is extending his stay in country music. The pop, R&B and hip-hop star tells TMZ that he's currently at work on a full-blown country project in collaboration with a country artist.

Derulo won a CMT Music Award for CMT Performance of the Year in 2017 for "Want to Want Me," a collaboration with Luke Bryan from CMT Crossroads. He also performed with Bryan on the CMT Awards, pairing that with Bryan's "Strip It Down." Though he provided few details, Derulo confirmed he's working on new country music when TMZ caught up with him at LAX on Monday (July 31).

"I'm doing a country project. I can't state exactly what it is exactly yet," he says, adding, "I'm excited about it, because I do love country music. I just won my first country music award, and I got the buzz, man. I got the buzz, so I'm doing a bigger project."

Derulo also teamed with Bryan and Florida Georgia Line for a remix of their hit "This Is How We Roll," and paired with Hank Williams Jr. and FGL for the new Monday Night Football theme song. Will we be seeing him in a full-length project with Bryan, FGL or Bocephus? He declined to name which country artists he'd most like to record with, apparently fearing it would tip his hand about his upcoming project.

"It's a project with me and another country act," he clarifies. "It's not just me."

Derulo wrote songs for other artists Diddy, Sean Kingston and Lil Wayne prior to launching his solo career. He earned a record deal by winning Showtime at the Apollo in 2006 and released his debut single, "Whatcha Say," in 2009, hitting No. 1 with the song. He's gone on to sell more than 30 million singles and score seven Platinum singles. He has previously collaborated with Jennifer Lopez, 2 Chainz, Demi Lovato and more.
