It’s National Squirrel Appreciation Day

Today is Squirrel Appreciation Day, and it is celebrating it’s 15 year anniversary! How have i missed this for the past 14 years?

Christy Hargrove, a wildlife rehabilitator in North Carolina, is responsible for this day existing. She created it on January 21, 2001. There are no specific ways to celebrate, but it’s a good bet that the squirrel in your backyard would appreciate it if you decided to celebrate with extra peanuts or birdseed.

If you want to spread the word, the suggested words are #SquirrelAppreciationDay . Take a walk on the University of Alabama Quad and snap a pic. Folks say the squirrels there are almost tame.

It seems I also missed the "Save The Quad Squirrels" campaign back in 2014.
