Record numbers of voters are expected to turn up at the polling places all across Alabama this year but Instagrammers beware: taking pictures inside the polling place is against state law.

The language on Alabama's Official Election Center website is a little more murky and open to interpretation than the language used in the article on Gizmodo about sharing your election day selfie on Instagram.

Gizmodo reports that Alabamians may not photograph inside the polling place but the Digital Media Law center says state law does not expressly prohibit all recording inside the polling place.

Photos of an individual's own marked ballot are not prohibited in Alabama but you should reach out to the polling place official for a written statement prior to breaking out your camera phone.

The official language is as murky as the different interpretations, but just to be on the safe side, don't Instagram from the polling place.
