DCH Sports Medicine is replacing their annual Fund Run 5K with a new duathlon race concept. The inaugural 'Dirt, Sweat & Gears' is taking place Saturday, June 25th at Lake Lurleen State Park.

The first part of the duathlon course features 10-miles of trails on bike, then a 5K run. It's a combo that brings a totally different race event to Tuscaloosa.

As in the past with the Fund Run 5K, Dirt Sweat and Gears will raise raise money for the DCH SportsMedicine Fund. You may not realize how important this fund is to local athletics, DCH SportsMedicine provides medical coverage for the area schools as a free service as a part of DCH Health System’s commitment to the community. This service costs the hospital over $600,000 annually. Supporting the DCH SportsMedicine Fund helps to provide extra tools and equipment to better take care of the athletes in the Tuscaloosa area.

Lake Lurleen State Park provides the perfect backdrop for what will be a really good time for the cause!
