The Police Officer's Creed states, "As a law enforcement officer, my fundamental duty is to serve mankind." The creed says nothing about birds of prey.

While on patrol in the Bluff Park community, Hoover Police Officer Patrick Lowery  went above and beyond his sworn oath when he noticed a large injured bird in the roadway. Upon closer inspection, he noticed the bird was a hawk. He stopped and with the help of a resident, put the hawk in the back seat of his patrol vehicle, drove to a Hoover Police Sub Station and waited on Animal Control to arrive.

The injured hawk was then transported to the Alabama Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Oak Mountain State Park. They have since reported that the hawk suffered a concussion and wing damage and is currently on the mend.
