April 7th has been recognized by beer enthusiasts as 'National Beer Day' and marks the day, 82 years ago, that the Cullen-Harrison Act took effect, ending prohibition.

Even though the act was signed on March 22, 1933, the new law did not go into effect until April 7th. National Beer Day has become more popular in recent years with the growth of craft beer and local breweries, some of which offer specials for the day.

Here are a few ways you can celebrate...

  • Check in any beer using the social drinking app Untappd and receive a special National Beer Day "badge."
  • Go to Punchbowl.com and send a National Beer Day e-card to friends and loved ones.
  • Go and enjoy a pint of your favorite brew at a local taproom, restaurant or in the comfort of your own home.

Celebrate responsibly. Cheers!

If you're not into beer, April 7th is also National No Housework Day and Pound Cake Day. Two more reasons to celebrate this great country we live in!
