Madison and Shepherd were invited again this year to Gordo's Muleday-Chickenfest. This past Saturday was the 27th year of the festival and The Gordo Chamber can hang their hat on another success. Gordo had a special visitor this year too.As we slowly eased the 95.3 The Bear truck through the crowded street in downtown Gordo, we were surprised to see Alabama Governor Dr. Robert Bentley. He was standing in conversation with Gordo Chamber's Rust Adams as we rolled by. I immediately realized the photo op!

I yelled out the truck window, "Hey Gov. Bentley, Can we get a selfie!?". He was more than accommodating. Alabama's First Lady, Dianne Bentley, used my phone to capture the pic above. I used my phone to grab the selfless selfie below:

Chamber member Kenneth Junkin told us that Gov. Bentley had called Friday evening to reveal his plans to attend this years festival and wanted to keep it "low-key". He did. The Governor had only a few on security detail and visited with and took many selfies with supporters. The last time we saw the good Governor, he was sitting in the shade eating homemade ice cream.

We really enjoyed Muleday-Chickenfest this year. Arts, crafts, music and family fun complete with the Mayberry characters.  If you missed it, make plans to be in Gordo next year!
