Old news papers are cool. I'm talking about really old like 1910 old. Doing a little research yesterday, I found myself deep in the innards of Google's newspaper archive. This awesome feature of Google doesn't get much press but it should.

Google has searchable archive of local papers from all over the country including 21,638 issues of The Tuscaloosa news dating back to September of 1910. In 1910, William Howard Taft was President of The United States, The Boy Scouts of America was incorporated and Halley's comet is observed photographically for the first time.

If you visit the site, prepare to spend some time being amazed. Check out this ad from the September 22nd 1910 T-News: How long was Hilbish's Sporting Goods in Tuscaloosa?

There are more archives papers from around the country than you can possibly look through hosted on the Google Newspaper site but I really enjoy taking a look at our past. It is amazing how things change so fast.
