Gary Allan is stepping up to raise money for the family of a 3-year-old girl with cancer who were the victims of a $9,000 scam.

Earlier in February, a 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with two felony accounts of theft by deception after he allegedly told Baxter’s 942 — a bar and grill in Louisville — that he could plan a Jason Aldean benefit concert for little Addilyn Roberts, a toddler diagnosed with Pre-B ALL Leukemia.

Kyle Nunn not only received a $6,000 check from the bar, but also $3,000 from the little girl’s parents, who set up the foundation Addie’s Army to benefit her.

Angela Roberts (Addie’s mother) actually went to high school with the accused scammer. “How you can target someone that you know, a child at that, battling cancer? It’s just heart-wrenching to think someone you went to school with someone you totally trust would do something like that,” she asked when the truth came to light.

Now, Gary Allan is setting things right. After hearing about the sour turn of events, the country singer teamed up with local country station Q-103.1 and Baxter’s 942 for something truly sweet — a real benefit concert for the toddler.

The intimate acoustic performance is set for March 25, with 100 percent of the money raised (including ticket sales) to go to the Roberts family. Thanks to Allan, a bad situation will become a lemons into lemonade story.
