You can have your taxes prepared for free. The service is offered to households earning up to $52,000 with children, or up to $20,000 without children and is provided by the University of Alabama Center for Ethics and Responsibility and UA's SaveFirst Initiative.

Taxes will be prepared by University of Alabama students. Last year, more than 660 trained students prepared tax returns for more than 8,600 families in cities statewide. The statewide campus collaboration helped families secure more than $15 million in tax refunds and, saved them more than $2.6 million in commercial tax preparation fees.
