Despite there being four undefeated teams still remaining from power-5 conferences, the one-loss Crimson Tide has emerged as the oddsmakers' favorite to win the national championship with three weeks remaining in the regular season. This marks the first time all year that Alabama is the favorite to win the College Football Playoff title.

Ohio State began the year as a heavy favorite, but Alabama wasn't too far behind. That all changed with the September loss to Ole Miss. The Crimson Tide's odds dropped to as low as 18-1 after allowing 43 points to the Rebels and still having major questions at quarterback.

But that game motivated the team rather than sidetrack the season. Alabama has reeled off seven straight wins, including three against ranked opponents on the road and another against second-ranked LSU at home. The suffocating win over the Tigers vaulted Alabama up to a co-favorite with Ohio State.

This past weekend, Nick Saban took his team into Starkville and showed that this defense can shutdown a scrambling quarterback as well as it can a power running back. Now Alabama, which is still 3rd in the AP Top 25, has the best odds to win another national championship.

The team can lock up another SEC West title and earn a trip to Atlanta if it beats Auburn next week. That game will be televised nationally by CBS.
