Flora-Bama to Celebrate 50 Years With Billy Currington and More During Second Annual ‘Shindig on the Sand’

The soft sand and wondrous waters of Alabama’s beach communities welcome music mavens of all kinds throughout the summer and fall of 2014 for a variety of major events.

One of those being Flora-Bama’s 'Shindig on the Sand,' part of the Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism’s (GSOBT) Concerts at the Coast series.

Joanie Flynn, vice president of marketing for GSOBT said,

The Concerts at the Coast series is a marketing effort designed to highlight the diversity of live music events held throughout the year on Alabama’s Gulf Coast. We’re thrilled to welcome beach guests into a whole different state of show with a full slate of concerts, including Flora-Bama’s Shindig on the Sand, one of the legendary bar’s many 50th anniversary events.

In its second year, 'Shindig on the Sand' is set to impress from June 6-8 with more than 70 acts and over 200 musicians.

In honor of Flora-Bama’s 50^th Anniversary, special guest Billy Currington will be playing on a stage in the sand behind Flora-Bama for a one of kind beach concert.

Currington will play at 5:30pm on Saturday, June 7^th. This is a separate ticketed event. Tickets are $40 with a discount going to Flora-Bama membership card holders. Tickets available in the Flora-Bama gift shop and online by clicking here.

This year’s event is partnered with American Family Care in conjunction with Flora-Bama’s Gulf Coast Musicians’ Assistance Fund (GCMAF) to offer local musicians access to affordable healthcare and other social services. Daily admission is $5, and on-site parking will be available. Flora-Bama taxis and shuttles are set to run to accommodate overflow parking.
