Volunteers in the Tuscaloosa area will partner with more than 50 multi-denominational churches to serve neighbors during 'A Day of Hope' on Saturday, Sept. 27th.

'A Day of Hope' is a service event planned through the Hope Initiative—a partnership between the City of Tuscaloosa and the faith-based community. The Hope Initiative's mission is, "to mobilize the church to live out the life of Christ in the most neglected communities of Tuscaloosa County."

Volunteers will build handicap ramps for children, build homes for tornado victims and complete yard maintenance for families suffering from serious illnesses. Other partnerships include ministries such as Wings of Grace and Turning Point.

Hope Initiative director Eric Boykin said,

We want to do more than just build. We want to show the love of Jesus in a practical way, and come together to make a difference in Jesus’ name.

More than 50 service projects have been assigned and many more remain open. Please visit click here to learn more about 'A Day of Hope' or to sign up to serve.
