Maj. Gen. Cobb, a resident of Baldwin County and the new director of USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park, is a graduate of the University of Alabama ROTC Program and served seven years active duty after being commissioned as a Second Lieutenant for the Army Reserve, according to an article on AL.com. On the reserve’s website, Cobb’s extensive military background is listed and includes her service as battalion commander of the 1184th Transportation Terminal Battalion during the early 21st century unrest in the Middle East. In her role she directed the discharge of “105 vessels and 90,152 pieces of Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps cargo throughout the period of combat operations for Operation Iraq Freedom I,” operating out of Port of Ash Shuaybah, Kuwait from fall 2002 to early summer 2003.

Cobb has accumulated a number of awards for her service: “the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal and the Army Achievement Medal.” She also holds a law degree from Samford University and a Master’s of Social Service from the United States Army War College.
