Fatal Crash Today on Old Tuscaloosa Highway

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says that the 7300 block Old Tuscaloosa Highway is blocked this afternoon because of a bad crash.  They have asked that people avoid the area and deputies say that a woman suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on scene. Her son was a passenger in the vehicle and we're told he suffered severe injuries and has been transported to the hospital.

At this time, it's believed this was a single car accident and the driver lost control and the vehicle left the road and then hit a utility pole.  Our thoughts and prayer go out to the family and please drive safe!
