Ethelsville Tornado, a 5.3 Mile Path of Destruction
The NWS early reports shows the F1 Tornado in Pickens County may have been on the ground for 10 minutes, traveling 5.3 miles from Ethelsville to Millport, Alabama.
It appears at some point the path width was 600 yards with peak winds of 95 miles per hour. Here is more for the NWS report...
A slow moving, but robust, weather system produced several incidents of severe weather across northwestern portions of Central Alabama late yesterday and overnight...north of Interstate 20/59 and west of Interstate 65. Preliminary indications are that there are between 5 and 10 potential tornado tracks across the far northwestern counties of Marion, Winston, Pickens, Lamar, Fayette, and Walker counties.
