Tuscaloosa's restaurant scene will take a hit this month when one of its culinary leaders closes its doors for good.

Epiphany has been serving the city with creativity and flavorful farm-to-fork dishes for more than 13 years, but that will come to an end when the restaurant shuts the doors at its downtown location on December 17. Patrons are now greeted with the news upon first glance of the current menu.

The restaurant also added this message to its Facebook page.

Executive chef and owner Tres Jackson has partnered with chef de cuisine Joel Frederick to begin another venture just a block away. Animal Butter will feature 'classic street food with a creative soul' and could become the next destination for fans of Epiphany. The new restaurant will continue to feature locally sourced ingredients on a menu that doesn't appear to lack flavor.

Animal Butter is located in the space adjacent to the Children's Hands-On Museum that used to be Sweet CeCe. According to the restaurant's Instagram account, it could be open in the next 2-3 weeks.

That will be about the time that the long-time Tuscaloosa establishment, Epiphany, closes its doors. If you haven't had the chance to get by for a meal or a cocktail, try to make time the next two weeks. Their friendly and knowledgeable wait staff have been serving up some of the state's best food since 2003 but will only do so for two more weeks.
