The world's most revered scientists, including 16 Nobel Laureates, will gather in Washington D.C to reveal how close humanity is to destruction.

Last January, the hand on the clock was moved to 11:57, the closest to midnight since the Doomsday clock was revealed in 1947.

Last year’s dramatic shift closer to midnight prompted the group to urge world’s leaders to take immediate action to prevent a tragedy of global proportions.

“In 2015, unchecked climate change, global nuclear weapons modernization, and out-sized nuclear weapons arsenals pose extraordinary and undeniable threats to the continued existence of humanity, and world leaders have failed to act with the speed or on the scale required to protect citizens from potential catastrophe,” the group wrote. “These failures of political leadership endanger every person on Earth."

The scientists will reveal their findings in a live press conference today at 12:30.
