My wife just pointed this out to me a few minutes ago and I plan on trying to get a look.. According to NASA, Venus and Jupiter will be a jaw-dropping 1/3rd of a degree apart tonight. That's less than the diameter of a full Moon!

This will make for a very rare and bright star show. Sky & Telescope suggests that a similar rare conjunction of Venus and Jupiter may have been what's been called the "Star of Bethlehem" in 3-2 BC.

The stars should remain relatively close through July 4th

The two planets have been drawing closer all month. This won't happen again until 2023.

When the sun goes down, step outside and look west.  You don't have to wait until the sky fades to black.  Venus and Jupiter are so bright, you can see then shining through the twilight.  In fact, some people say the planets are especially beautiful when they are surrounded by the cobalt hue of the early evening sky--so don't wait.
