Did You Know Tomatoes Can Sprout Sitting on the Counter?

I snapped this pic last weekend. In all my years, I have never seen a tomato do this. I know potatoes will. My wife's grandpa will be 80 years old in March and told me he has never seen this either. He did tell me that these particular tomatoes were organic. I did a little research and found the seed sprouting actually has a name: VIVIPARY  and according to  merriam-webster.com Vivipary is defined as : the development of vegetative shoots upon or among the reproductive organs of a plant

I thought it was pretty cool.
