Former Alabama linebacker Reggie Ragland signed his rookie contract on Tuesday and will earn close to $6 million over four years.

The team announced the deal via Twitter following a OTA practice in Buffalo.

“It feels great,” Ragland told the team's website. “You get this opportunity and you work so hard your whole life as a kid just to be in this position. You’ve put yourself in this position so now you’ve got to come through. So I’m very thankful I got the deal done and now it’s time to get to work.”

The contract is officially worth $5.84 million over four years, which includes a signing bonus of $2.44 million. His yearly salary will increase from $450,000 in 2016 to $1.25 million in 2019.

Ragland started two seasons for Alabama and finished his career by earning First Team All-American and SEC Defensive Player of the Year honors last fall. The Bills drafted the Madison, Alabama native 41st overall in the second round. He was the second player off the board from the University of Alabama last month.
