Another 200-yard rushing performance against a ranked opponent has moved Alabama's Derrick Henry into a clear lead for the Heisman Trophy.

The junior's 204 rushing yards and two touchdowns on Saturday against Mississippi State marked the third time in four games that he's eclipsed the 200-yard mark. The first two came at Texas A&M (236 yards) and at home against LSU (210 yards).

Henry is getting hot at the right time. Not only has it helped carry Alabama through the most difficult schedule in the country, but it has also grabbed the attention of Heisman voters at a time when they're most impressionable.

Just two weeks ago, projections had Henry just outside of the top five for the prestigious award. That all changed in the primetime matchup against second-ranked LSU. His huge night - paired with Leonard Fournette's worst game of the season - vaulted Henry into the top two on most lists.

Now, oddsmakers believe the Alabama running back is the clear favorite with three weeks left in the season. Sportsbook, which made Fournette and Henry co-favorites a week ago, made the latter the clear favorite on Monday.

Bovada gave Henry the best odds last week but increased that margin following Mississippi State.

As Henry moves closer to becoming just the school's second Heisman Trophy winner, he has a great opportunity to build on his resume. Saturday's Charleston Southern matchup won't mean much because he'll likely be used on a limited basis, but he potentially has two nationally-televised games to end the year.

The Iron Bowl will be carried by CBS and he'll face a Tigers defense that ranks 10th in the conference against the run. Should Alabama get through that game as a favorite, Henry takes on the SEC's second-best defense in Florida for the conference championship.
