According to Tide 102.9's and Tuscaloosa News Reporter Aaron Suttles, WBC World heavyweight champion and Tuscaloosa native Deontay Wilder could be defending his title as early as October.

Wilder's last title defense was back in February when he defeated Gerald Washington. Since turning Pro, Wilder has a record of 38-0 with 37 of those victories coming by knockout.

Wilder's promoter, Lou DiBella, says that he has a hold on the Barclays Center in Brooklyn for the dates Saturday, Oct. 14, and Saturday, Nov. 4. for the fight. The search and negotiation for Wilder's next opponent remains ongoing. Wilder's last fight took place in Birmingham.

Hopefully, one day we can get Deontay to defend his belt right HERE in Tuscaloosa!
