‘Dallas’ Season 3: TNT Renews for Additional Year
Both the ‘Dallas‘ legacy and TNT’s revival of the long-running soap opera suffered an immense blow this past year when legendary actor and original series star Larry Hagman lost his battle with cancer. TNT managed to write the actor’s death into a storyline for Havman’s wily J.R. Ewing to exit the series, but now we’ve learned that ‘Dallas’ will live on regardless. TNT has officially ordered a third season of the revitalized soap, but what else will change about ‘Dallas’ season 3?
Good news, ‘Dallas’ fans, the Ewings will live on another year. After a difficult season, TNT has officially announced that ‘Dallas’ will return for season 3 in early 2014, to consist of another 15 episodes. Says Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT:
‘Dallas’ has built a passionately loyal following with its expertly woven storylines, clever twists and turns, and numerous outstanding performances by a cast that spans generations. Although we said goodbye to Larry Hagman and his iconic character J.R. Ewing this year, ‘Dallas’ has many more stories left to tell, and the Ewing clan will continue to honor J.R.’s memory by keeping its audience surprised and delighted.
The revitalized ‘Dallas’ launched on TNT in summer 2012, ranking as basic cable’s No. 1 new drama of 2012. The second season averaged 3.8 million viewers, 1.6 million adults 25-54 and 1.4 million adults 18-49.
Well, what say you? Are you happy to have TNT’s ‘Dallas’ back for season 3, even without Larry Hagman? What did you think of the second season?
