As we kick off Summer on this extended Memorial Day Weekend, University Of Alabama Engineering Researchers are said to be developing a system to assist in measuring the world’s ice sheets and glaciers.

The group is reportedly working on a type of radar, that will be able to scan the general interior of ice and glaciers. Researchers say that’ this is significant,  because scientists aren’t sure how much the melting of glaciers and ice, will influence rising seas as the earth experiences climate changes.

A University Of Alabama News Release says the project is the first for the school’s new Remote Sensing Center. Researchers at the center are also reportedly developing various different technologies for measuring soil, moisture, snow and ice.
