The Top Female Vocalist winner is going to have to top Carrie Underwood, and that won't be easy. Eight female country singers were chosen from country music's most active artists to compete for the this title, and Round 1 starts with a matchup between the "Heartbeat" star and Ashley Monroe.

Country's first American Idol winner is a supreme vocalist with unparalleled range and power. Every performance seems perfect, with no missed notes or lack of emotion. Monroe is perhaps country's most expressive singer, with an equal amount of talent even if she's a very, very different type of singer. Both acts nominated for Grammys last month. Both bring a large and diverse fanbase.

Only one can move on, however. Taste of Country is giving fans a voice in this contest to decide country music's top vocalist of this year. Four rounds of voting will end when the Top Male and Top Female square off in the finals. The winner will be named the Country Music's Top Vocalist of 2016.

Vote up to once every hour until this round closes on Sunday (March 13) at 11:59PM ET. The winner will move on to face either Martina McBride or Miranda Lambert.
